How do I use that in a comparison? I want to populate a field on whether this date means a criteria. I can't seem to find a way to include the date without the formula not validating.

Sorry that I mised these replies. This is the first time I've used this new community format and I didn't get any email notifications of replies. I'll check what has been suggested. I'm actually designing the report in Webi, and this date issue has been nagging at me. I don't think that the email notification is introduced in this new version of community till now.

Even I am trying to explore the new community space. The field is already a date. When I use the IsDate function on the field it returns as True.

Now I need to be able to use that date for a logical comparison but I can't figure out how to write the date in the comparison. Not what you're looking for?

What it would do is create a correlated subquery when you use it in your report. I'd expect at the data foundation layer but can't be certain because I don't know your business model. Now on your report whenever you require max date then use the derived table in one of the queries on report to fetch the same. Both B and C is joined to different field.

Now the reason I wanted to create max was because in web-i unit name was appearing twice for data circled in blue. One with data and the other blank. I did check the derived table tutorials but since unit name is not direct from a table so I am a little lost. I am sorry for such long message and detailed one I guess but I am very newbie and just got assigned to this project, hence do require a little step by step guidance.

So if there is any alternative to create it at business layer instead of data foundation will be very ideal for me.

Thanks, Swapnil. Jul 01, at PM.The RelativeDate function has been around a while. This was historically done by using a parameter that specified the number of days you wanted to add or subtract from a date. Starting with BI 4.

V2k technology

This has been corrected in the BI 4. But for those of you still on BI 4. In some documentation, the separator between num and period was incorrectly shown as a comma. It is indeed a semicolon so be sure to use a semicolon for this to work:. The above formula would return the current date minus 1 month.

I should also mention this post: RelativeDate function enhancement, not yet by Noel Scheaffer. It covers his testing and results down in the comments which shows the output that he tested for each period type.

I have asked our documentation team to make the updates to the documentation for BI 4. In the meantime, I hope this info saves you some time. Jonathan Brown. Posted on December 10, 2 minute read. New RelativeDate functionality for easier date manipulation. Follow RSS feed Like.I have also tried using PdmTodayboth in the prm file and the Universe object, but that does not work neither. Can anyone let me know what step s I'm missing?

I added it as a Universe object, putting getdate in the select area of the object, but when I attempt to use it in a report, I receive the message "The query does not reference a table. Error: WIS ". If I use this in an object in the Universe, I have the same errors as when I use getdate.

I am looking to add a "Current Date" object to Designer also, no luck so far. My SD database is Oracle. I have successfully created variables in InfoView for past months, as follows, but as I understand it, I need to create Universe level objects to use in a query.

But when I try to replicate these as objects using Designer, I can't even get the most basic element, Current Date, working. So far I have tried creating objects in Designer with the following entries in the select field and the associate result:.

A BO resource within my organization helped me figure it out. I didn't figure out the current date function, but I didn't need to. I ended up creating objects for the first and last day of the previous months, which I then was able to use in Query Filters in Webi.

FYI, when using 31 as the day number, it is automatically rounded down to the actual last day of the month if less than I'm trying to tackle similar issues with the dates and so far I haven't found a proper documentation on the PDM functions and the parameters they accept.

Can you point me the correct direction or refer to a document that has those parameters documented? CA's document on this is useless, as usual. Ok, looks like the documentation is indeed false, found the fixed doc from CA's support.

Anyway, I'm still having trouble with how to use those PDM functions in an object select.

Relative Date function

No matter what I try I keep getting an error. Also can't figure out how to use BO's own date functions in the same select clause.

We have tried several variations including DateCurrentDateetc. All responses return the response that this is not a recognized funtion. If you have any suggestions or functions that work please let me know.

The question is where you want to apply the filter. If you want to put it in the universe, the date function and the syntax you need to use in your object is the one of the underlying database. If you want to filter at report level we probably need some more information, details or an example to help you.
